Jessica Pegula eliminated two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova 6-3, 6-2 to reach her third Grand Slam quarter-final of the year.
Crucially for Pegula, it is the first time she has achieved the feat at Flushing Meadows.
The daughter of Buffalo Bills owners, Terry and Kim, will face Polish world No. 1 Iga Swiatek for the second time in a rematch of the French Open quarter-final.

Swiatek recovered from a shock first-set loss to push past German opponent Jule Niemeier to book her place in the final eight.
Pegula’s match vs. former two-time Wimbledon champ, Kvitova, was held up for around 45 minutes at 1-1 in the first set as rain fell.
While the Arthur Ashe Stadium roof is retractable, it wasn’t closed until after a downpour drenched the court.
The 28-year-old American had yet to reach a US Open quarterfinal until victory on Monday
She reeled off the last three games of Monday’s opening set, which ended with a double-fault by No. 21 Kvitova.
Pegula then reeled off the last six games of the fourth-round match after trailing 2-0 in the second set.
Despite the Open milestone, Pegula is 0-3 in Grand Slam quarterfinals throughout her career.
Pegula will face No. 1 ranked Iga Swiatek (L) or Jule Niemeier (R) in the US Open quarterfinals
This includes losses at the Australian Open in January and the French in June.
Incidentally, the last-eight loss in Paris came at the hands of Swiatek. The pair will clash on Wednesday.
Pegula is the highest-ranked American woman and the only native inside the top 10 in both singles and doubles.
